Field aspect of the layered dolomitic marbles (a, 44° 59′ 24.6′′ N–7° 06′ 08′′ E) and calcschist (b, 44° 59′ 20.96′′ N–7° 06′ 07.05′′ E) within the Serre Unit. The decimetre-thick layering in the dolomitic marbles (a) is a characteristic feature of most platform carbonates of Middle and Upper Triassic age in the Alpine belt. In the calcschist (b), a dolomitic clast, more resistant to the deformation than the calcite-rich matrix, suggests derivation from a carbonate breccia, potentially of Jurassic age (e.g. Pantet et al., 2020)
