Small-scale mapping of the eastern sidewall of the EZ-B niche. For location refer to Fig. 4. This vertical cross-section provides an illustrative example of the EDZ fracture network, which developed around Gallery 04. Three different sets of EDZ fractures were identified behind the sidewall: (1) extensional fractures parallel to Gallery 04, (2) oblique striking extensional fractures with respect to the Gallery 04 axis and (3) reactivated bedding planes in the vicinity of the tunnel wall. A detailed analysis of the EDZ fracture development around the EZ-B niche can be found in Yong et al. (2010)
