Step (after the selection of sample)

 Determine the geographical position and altitude

 Take photographs of the boulder

 Measure the dimension of the boulder

 Measure the strike and dip of the top surface

 Measure topographical shielding

 Measure local shielding

 Describe vegetation

 Describe the potential sample with its surrounding (e.g. lithology, weathering, and differential movements)

 Take photographs of the potential surface

 Take the sample (up to the required weight)

 Take the pictures of the sample and boulder after sampling
