Growth-strata evidence on the southern flank of Jebel Alima (Gafsa basin, southern Tunisia); the growth strata are represented by Neogene and Quaternary terrestrial sediments (a, b) but the characteristic geometry of the fold kinematics is observed on the youngest bed, consisting of a late Quaternary pediment dated at 150–160 ka BP (Ben Ouezdou 1994; Swezey 1996). This geometry was interpreted by Ahmadi et al. (2006) as synclinal hinge migration related to a fault-propagation fold (c), but there was no evidence of any kinematics on the remaining growth strata
