  1. The in-situ confining pressure; (MPa) was derived using Equation (6) in text. A, B, a, and b are the parameters of the curve-fit of Wepfer and Christensen (1991) [Eq. (7) in text]. The acoustic impedance at borehole conditions \(\left( \text {Pa s/m}\right)\) for compressional- (\(-\!\!\!\!Z\)\(_{\text{ p }}\)) and shear-waves (\(-\!\!\!\!Z\)\(_{\text{ s }}\)) was calculated by the multiplication of seismic velocities and grain densities (Table 2)
