Bulk-rock chemical characteristics (Tables 2 and 3) of silicatic metasediments (mainly pelites) from different lithological units in the central Tauern Window and potential source rocks (Zentralgneis). Variability in Na2O-K2O-CaO in a, content of Fe2O3 vs. MgO in b, MgO + Fe2O3 vs. TiO2 (after Bhatia, 1983) in c and Zr vs. Cr in d. Zg* denotes rocks from the Zentralgneis of the Venediger nappe system taken from Exner (1957) (p. 78 samples 1 and 2; p. 119, samples 7, 8 and 9). Tr and Wk denote metasediments from the Trögereck Nappe and Wustkogel Formation, respectively. Analyses marked Tr* and Wk* were taken from Exner (1964) (p. 67, samples 1 and 2, respectively). Pf and Sk denote metapelite samples from the Piffkar and Schwarzkopf formations, Bk and Gl denote Grt-micaschist samples from the Brennkogel Formation and the Glockner Nappe s.str., respectively
